Yesterday our Fashion Design class took a field trip to Savers! Yes Savers... a thrift store. As a class were having a fashion show and were creating our own theme collection with groups with recycled garments, bed sheets, curtains, and many more. I learned that Savers works for a non profit organization and that Savers goes into homes to pick up bags or boxes of donated things like, clothing, mattresses, furniture, etc. I also learned that anyone can go into savers to donated items and can get a discount. Also I learned that their workers are trained to know what brands are and know how well the material is. And also I learned that they check prices through a computer system. One of the most interesting facts is what ever clothing they don't sell, they end up shipping it to another company and that company ends up shipping it to other countries around the world. Our group found embellishments, dresses, bed sheets, curtains, shirts, and more. Overall our group spent approximately $115 and was below $35 of of our budget! With the materials purchased we're creating boho dresses, suits, and many more! All in all Savers is doing a good thing by working with charities.
